Via Appia is the first historical level of my indie game: a mix of Tower Defense, Action Farm Sim and Historical Narrative set in ancient Rome. On this iconic Roman road, the player does not defend the road itself, but a vulnerable courier carrying an important letter through a dangerous countryside.
Along Via Appia, roadside statues, crumbling ruins, tombs and soft hills create a grounded historical setting with no fantasy, no sci‑fi and no abstraction — only real antiquity. While escorting the courier, the player builds defensive structures, manages farms and fields, gathers resources and makes story‑driven decisions that affect both the local economy and the fate of the message.
This level combines classic tower defense waves on the road, action‑based farming gameplay around it and a strong historical narrative about politics, trade and everyday life in the Roman Empire. Keywords: Tower Defense, Action Farm Sim, Historical Narrative game, ancient Rome setting, Via Appia level, escort mission, courier protection, historical strategy, indie game design, no fantasy, no sci‑fi.
